Margaret Josephine (Charlebois) Lawler, 101, passed away peacefully at Madonna Summit of Byron on April 14, 2021. Margaret was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on September 17th, 1919 to Andrew and Anne (Macholda) Charlebois.
She attended the University of Minnesota and earned degrees in Nursing and Public Health, graduating in July of 1944.
Margaret researched the health benefits of pasteurization of milk and began her career promoting this practice. Her professional career was in Olmsted County as a Public Health Nurse. She married Richard W. Lawler on June 5th, 1948. She became his confidante, his business partner in the Lawler Family Farm, and raised three sons while maintaining her career as an Olmsted County Public Health Nurse. As an active member of the St. Francis Catholic Faith Community, she served as the President of the St. Francis Rosary Society and was a life-long member of the St Joseph’s Rosary Society. Margaret baked countless cakes, brownies and cookies for funerals and gatherings held at the parish. She enjoyed walking, gardening and growing flowers in concert with raising her family. At times she would say the latter two had remarkable similarities, the goal was to help them both to blossom.
She is survived by her three sons, Timothy R. (Patricia), Patrick A. (Carlene) and Stephan E. (Brenda) Lawler; nine grandchildren, Andy (Danielle), Joe (Tiffany), Tony (Brianna), Dan, Molly, Katie, Sarah, Bridget and Michael Lawler; nine great grandchildren Sutton, Blair, Aubrey, Ava, Lyvia, Luke, Brielle, Landen and Declan Lawler as well as several nieces and nephews in the Charlebois and Lawler families.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Richard; infant daughter Mary Josephine; brother Eugene, and her parents Andrew and Anne (Macholda) Charlebois.
Margaret was an example of Commitment, Perseverance and Tenacity, as a mother, a partner with her husband Richard, to her family, friends and as a public health nurse. She was truly the matriarch of the family and will be missed. God bless her memory.
The family would like to thank all her caregivers including, the staff at Madonna Summit for their dedicated care and kindness shown to Margaret.
A Memorial Mass for Margaret is planned for a later date.
