Edward P. Manahan, 80, of Rochester, MN died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at his home.
Edward was born May 20, 1939 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester to Frank and Margaret (O’Connell) Manahan. He grew up and attended school in Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1957. While he was working at St. Marys Hospital he met Marjorie Kraling and the two were united in marriage on October 1, 1960 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, MN.
He went on to work for Rochester Sand & Gravel for 20 years before going to work at the City of Rochester where he worked for 16 ½ years before his retirement.
Eddie loved to talk and enjoyed spending time with people. He liked antiques, especially old cars and going to car shows. Eddie also enjoyed his time spent at auctions, the occasional casino trip, traveling and going out to eat. He had a passion for animals, especially cats and dogs.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Marjorie; son, Richard (Susan Moore); adopted grandson, Jeremiah Speer; sister, Mary (Ervin) Arendt; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret; brothers, Joe and Leo; and sisters-in-law, Helen and Jeanie.
A very special thank you for the loving care to the doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic, Brenda Danielson, NP of the Transition Care Program, Seasons Hospice Care Team, Fr. Russ, Peggy, Helen, George, neighbors, and friends.
Eddie’s faith and 43 years of AA sustained him.
The Funeral Mass for Eddie will be held at a later date when we can all gather together at St. Pius Catholic Church.
