The Funeral Mass for Kenneth D. Haas will be at 10:30am on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will be at St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in Simpson, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.
Mr. Haas, 64, of Rochester, died Saturday, November 5, 2016 of Pancreatic Cancer at his residence, surrounded by his family. Ken was born July 30, 1952 in Yankton, SD to Clarence and Geraldine Haas. Following Yankton High School graduation in 1970 he attended Yankton College, obtaining a BS degree in Accounting. On October 4, 1986, he married Deborah Schoenfelder at Resurrection Catholic Church. Ken retired September 9, 2016 from Olmsted Co. after over twenty-five years in Social Services Accounting. Ken absolutely loved family. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading, especially author William Kent Krueger.
Survivors include his wife Deb, sons Matthew (Sarah Stegmann), Jacob, and a granddaughter Sophia all of Rochester, siblings Patricia Wuebben, Diane Haas, Michael (Sandra) all of Yankton, SD, Pamela (William) Leshovsky of Brandon, SD, five nieces and two nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Pancreatic Cancer Research or Season’s Hospice Rochester.
