John Donald Roseboom, age 80, passed away Sunday July 7, 2019 at his home in Rochester.
John was born May 3, 1939 to Percy and Blanch (Hayes) Roseboom in Rochester. He married Carol Toogood on July 9, 1960. They raised their two sons in Rochester. John was a retired heavy equipment operator. He worked over 40 years for Doyle Conner Construction. In the 1950’s John was a successful boxer – flyweight division – for the VFW team. He enjoyed hunting with family and friends, fishing, playing golf, going to the farm, and watching sports. He stayed busy tinkering with his plants and yard decorations and “making the rounds” to give a little grief to many lifelong friends. You could hear him before you saw him!
John is survived by his two sons, Dale (Sue Trogstad) and Donny (Anita); four grandchildren, Danielle, Ryan, Matt, and Pete (Danelle); two great-grandchildren, Peter and Emma; sisters, Lavonne VanSchaick, Pat (Jerry) Wondrow, Sue (Don) Diver; brother, Mike; and special friend, Karen.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents; stepmother, Lois; and two brothers, Jim and Ray.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Woody Roland officiating. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday.
