Jean Marie Jensen, age 94, of Rochester, MN, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at River Bend in Rochester.
Jean was born September 25, 1924 in Faribault, MN, the daughter of Howard Adam and Emma Catherine (Maravetz) Harger. She was united in marriage to Leland W. Jensen October 29, 1949, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester, and to this union 3 children were born. She worked as a Medical Secretary at Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic in Infectious Diseases and Nephrology, retiring from the Mayo Clinic after more than 30 years. After retirement she volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Marys Hospital. She was a long time member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she was active in St. Raphael’s Guild and Sierra Club. She was proud of the title “Grandma Jean,” which spread to many as she took her grandchildren to school every day. She enjoyed traveling, some of her favorite trips included The Holy Land, Rome, Medjugorje, and Ireland.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Leland.
She is survived by her children: David Jensen, Theresa Jensen, and Thomas (Cherie) Jensen all of Rochester; grandchildren: Krista, Katie, Chloe (Eric), and Logan (Anne).
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday July 8, 2019 at 10:30AM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with Rev. James Berning officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7 from 4 - 7 PM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to Rochester Catholic Schools or to the donor’s choice.
