Robert A. “Bob” Gasner, 84, of Prior Lake MN, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 from natural causes.
Bob was born November 6, 1934 in Owatonna, MN to Merlin and Evelyn (Gray) Gasner. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1952 and attended St. Mary’s College, graduated from the Academy of Accountancy in Minneapolis, served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1963. He was employed by Bernard’s Cottage Shoppes from 1976 to 1992, the Kruse Company from 1965 to 1975, and again from 1993 to 2000 when he retired.
Mr. Gasner served on the board of directors of the Olmsted County Businessmen’s Association, the Catholic Charities of the Winona Diocese, the United Way, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).
Mr. Gasner married Patricia Wagner (deceased) in 1958 and they were later divorced. In 1979, he married Dorothy Marie Noonan. Together they raised ten children in Rochester. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He tackled many challenges in life with a common-sense attitude and an amazing sense of humor. His laughter was contagious. He and Dorothy moved to Prior Lake in 2018 to be closer to their children.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Ann (Al) White of Davenport, IA, and Julia (Ted) Stauderman of Rockville, MD; seven sons, James (Marty) of Arlington, TX, Kenneth (Kristan) Noonan of Madison, WI, Thomas (Mindy) Noonan of Austin, TX, Daniel (Kris Ann) of Eden Prairie, MN, Kurt (Marlene) of Orlando, FL, Todd (Bess) of Zumbro Falls, MN, and Sean Noonan of Prior lake, MN; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Paul (Joan) of Andover, MN, Sidney (Michele) of Minneapolis, MN, and William (Naomi) of Owatonna, MN; and two sisters, Mary Pat (Willie) Eastwood of Evans, CO, and Susan (David) Klinkhammer of Burnsville.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; Merlin and Evelyn, daughter, Jeanie; brother, Thomas; and sister, Joan.
Bob loved to gamble, paint, walk, mentor small business owners, spend time with his children/grandchildren, and was an avid Vikings fan.
The memorial Mass for Bob Gasner will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
