Irene Fisher, 95, of Rochester, MN, formerly of Schroeder, MN, died Monday, April 8, 2019.
Irene was born June 9, 1923 in Duluth, MN to Amund and Lava (Carlson) Hovland. She graduated from Grand Marais High School in 1939 then followed her passion and attended beauty school in Duluth, MN. On October 11, 1941, she married Darrell W. Fisher. The couple moved to California then later returned to Grand Meadow, MN to start a family.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pam (John) Deisman of Watertown, MN, and Deb Tushaus of Rochester, MN; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty. She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Art; and one son, Ron.
Irene found joy and meaning in life through her family and friends. Daily and weekly visits from her daughters, grandchildren & great-grandchildren were her highlight. Then each month she would join in with her neighbors hosting community potlucks at the senior building in which she lived. This was a chance for her to exercise one of her greatest passions, cooking. Irene enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, shopping at the local farmers market, shopping, going out for dinner, watching the Minnesota Twins (win), and her favorite channel, the Game Show Network.
The visitation for Irene A. Fisher will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Immediately following the visitation, a prayer service will be held with Pastor Paul D. Bauch officiating.
