Dorothy Irene Askildson, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 8th, 2016. She died at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family.
Dorothy was born on January 13, 1932 in Leith, North Dakota; she later moved to Albert Lea, MN. On May 5th, 1953, she married Marven Askildson. The couple resided in Albert Lea and later moved to Rochester, MN in 1964. Dorothy was a homemaker and later worked at Country Kitchen as a waitress and at the Mayo Harwick Building as a cashier.
Survivors include her three children, Julie Hanson of Rochester, MN, Ricky Askildson of Burnsville, MN and Robert (Susan) Askildson of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren, Lance (Virginie), Chad, Sydney (Johnny), Grant, and Coleton; one great-grandson Samuel, two great-granddaughters Gloria and Rose; four brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The funeral service of Dorothy will be held at 11:00AM Friday October 14th, at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4520 19th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901 with Pastor Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers and plants the family requests memorials to be directed to Resurrection Lutheran Church, giving to the Monkey Junction Ministry for kids.
