Larry was born on March 31, 1947 in Prairie City, Oregon. He was raised in logging camps and could be put in as many as 11 schools in one year due to the nature of the logging industry.
He fell in love with Patricia Hayes and they were married and blessed with four daughters and later divorced. He then traveled to Rochester, MN where he met the love of his life Nancy Boe, daughter of Donald and Bonnie Boe of Austin, MN. Nancy fell in love with Larry’s mischievous, sparkling brown eyes that August, and were engaged in December of 1977, and were married the following May 20, 1978. On that day God blessed Nancy with an unselfish and loving husband of 40 years and three loving step daughters.
Larry was a quiet man and very rarely expressed himself. His heart was huge, and he offered his home to those in need. Larry’s final act of love for his daughters was to wait to pass peacefully until all three were by his side.
Through his working years Larry worked at the Kahler Hotel, Morton Building, Insty Prints, Rochester Meats, Custom Printing and Kwik Trip. Larry was a special man in many ways. He fought chronic Lymphocytic leukemia since 1998. God put wonderful and caring angels there to care for him. Larry’s family cannot express their gratefulness enough to Dr. Patrick Johnston, Ruth Lientz, and the rest of the team on Mayo 10 South. Larry was courageous and fought the battle bravely. He enjoyed old cars, old country music, Old western movies with John Wayne, weekend golf with his friends, and a few cold beers.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Teresa (Mark) Marquette of Rochester, Elizabeth (Daren) Erwin-Hancock of Davenport, IA, and Jennifer (Ronald) Schmidt of Dewitt, IA; mother-in-law, Bonnie Boe; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother, Daniel (Sandy) Vestal of Winston, OR; and sister, Carla (Richard) Hull of Chula Vista, CA.
