The memorial service for Steven “Steve” Ray Meyers will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Rochester. Relatives and friends are invited following the burial to the Kasson American Legion for a Celebration of Life for Steve starting at 3:00 p.m.
Steve, 63, of Rochester, MN passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 comfortably at home surrounded by his family. Steve was born on June 29, 1955 in Saint Paul, MN to Raymond and Myrtle Meyers.
He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1973. In November of 1974, he married Laurie Schueller and later divorced. On October 24, 1998 Steve married Theresa “Terry” Manahan in Rochester.
Steve spent his entire career as an auto mechanic, starting with his father and taking over the family business, Meyers Auto Repair.
Steve earned his Eagle Scout rank at the age of 16. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He also enjoyed drag racing cars and participated in National Bowling Tournaments. The biggest joy was doing these things with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Terry of Rochester; their son, Trevor (Leah Johnson) of Rochester, Chris (Sherrie) of Kasson, Tricia (Andrew Becker) of Hackensack, MN, Danny (Sondra Durnen) of Rochester, Jackie (Jesse) Johnson of Eyota, Bryan (Alicia) Meek of Chatfield, MN, and Michael (Britni) Meek of Eyota. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Henderson of Rochester; brother, Paul (Tania) of Mantorville, MN; nieces, Elizabeth and Samantha Meyers, 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Rod Henderson.
The family would like to say a special thank-you to Mayo Clinic Oncology (Dr. Hubbard, Jessica Mitchell, and his special niece, Veronica). Because of them, he was so proud to be part of a research study that took his blood to Italy to assist in researching a cure. Also a special thanks is extended to the Seasons Hospice team for being so amazing.
