Richard “Dick” David Mahon, 81, of Rochester passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Season’s Hospice House in Rochester surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born December 17, 1936 in Rochester to John and Frances (Wilke) Mahon. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1954. He married Marlene Bemmert on March 2, 1955 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. Dick was a manager of the Print Shop at St. Marys Hospital for 46.5 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing every Friday and Saturday night. He also enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and was a lifelong and avid fan of the Vikings. Dick also enjoyed cooking and eating a good meal, being friendly with the neighbors, going up north with family, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the Stewartville American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Marlene, his children, Sheila (Pete) Schreiber, Deb (Rich) Fitzgerald, Cindy (Jim) Delaney, Diane (Bob) Negen, Dave (Amy) Mahon; grandchildren, Derek Fitzgerald, Shaun Schreiber, Jason Schreiber, Cory Negen, Cassie Lanoue, Ashten Mahon, Jimmy Delaney, Elliot Mahon; great-grandchildren, Taylor Fitzgerald, Brady Fitzgerald, Grace Schreiber, Zach Schreiber, Logan Fitzgerald, Cailyn Schreiber, Jordyn Schreiber, Breck Lanoue, Jordie Negen, Veya Lanoue; brother, Jim (Kathy) Mahon; sister, Noreen Seeger; sisters-in-law, Shirley Mahon, and Barb Mahon; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances; sister, Carol; and brothers, John and William.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2nd at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1st in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
