Neither caustic, biting analysis nor hearty laugh will be heard again from Mary Cathryn (Haggerty) Beilke, age 84, who is no more after dying of cancer on June 27, 2018 at Seasons Hospice.
Born to Lansford and Margaret (Hafner) Haggerty December 26, 1933, she was second of six siblings. Survived by brothers, Jack (Daveta), Robert (Patty) and Charles (Carleen); and brother-in-law, Bill Healy. Preceded in death by sister, Patti Healy; and brother, James ”Punk”(Tykie)
A graduate in 1951 of Lourdes High School and 1954 St. Francis School of Nursing (Viterbo College), Mary was a proud registered nurse for more than forty years, retiring in 1994 after a career at Mayo and St Marys. She highly valued professional nursing and was proud to be amongst the ranks of the most skilled.
She was married to Lutheran Ernest Beilke (gasp!) on November 25, 1957 with all the drama such a union brought in the 1950s. To this union, came a son, Charles Beilke (Amy Erickson); and a daughter, Gretchen Beilke (Jeff McCallum). She taught them the value of love and exacting standards.
Equally proud grandmother and great-grandmother to three grandchildren, Zebulon (Annika Schilke), Ethan Beilke-McCallum, and Gabrielle Beilke; and great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Liesl McCallum. Mary was generous with advice and caring.
Active through the years in scouting, church and school organizations and Mayo Volunteers, she gave many hours to organizations whose missions shared her values.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials to Resurrection Catholic Church or donor’s choice.
