Ervin Henry Schlick, 92, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of West St. Paul, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus.
Ervin was born in Mahnomen, Minnesota on March 15, 1925. He married Barbara Wambach on June 10, 1952 and they were married for 62 years.
Ervin was a music educator for 38 years. He graduated from Moorhead State University with a Bachelor’s Degree and Mankato State University with a Master’s Degree. He taught in Browerville, Montgomery and St. Paul, MN and in Menomonie, WI. He was voted Outstanding Teacher of the Year at UW-Stout in Menomonie in 1989. In addition to his vocation in music, Ervin loved to hunt and fish.
Ervin is survived by his brothers Earl and Marvin, sister Sharon (Richard) Jokumsen, brother-in-law George Blackmore, son Mark, daughters Mary (Harris) Nanette and Elizabeth, grandsons Andrew (Abree) Schlosser and Daniel Schlick, granddaughters Greta (Chad) Henderson and Jackie Harris, seven great-grandchildren and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, his parents Norbert and Katherine (Haider) Schlick, sister Geraldine Blackmore and sisters-in-law Cecelia and Cynthia Schlick.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 5th at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Gerald Mahon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.
