John A. Randall, 84 of Rochester passed away on November 16, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 25, 1933 in Rochester to Warren and Marie (Grothe) Randall. John graduated from Rochester High School in 1951, where he excelled in sports, especially wrestling.
On November 21, 1953 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Germaine Mihelis. The couple moved to Cape May, NJ where John served in the US Coast Guard for two years.
Following his military service, he completed his education at the University of Minnesota and the School of Physical Therapy at Mayo Clinic.
At the time of his retirement in 1991, he was Supervisor of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Following John’s retirement, he and Germaine moved to Cocoa Beach, FL where they resided for 22 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with family.
John is survived by his wife, Germaine; three daughters, Debbie (Dan Jr.) Macken, Laurie (Jim) Korsmo, and Sue (Curt) Cook; eight grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Macken, Paul (Ashley) Macken, Danny (Mary) Macken, Kevin (Yui) Macken, Mike (Michelle) Korsmo, Sara (Dan) Armstead, Chelsea Cook, Andrew Cook, and three great grandchildren. His brother Floyd Randall also survives.
John was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Adam Koglin. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19th in the River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #92 at the church following the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Mayo Clinic/St. Marys Hospital, Mayo Clinic Hospice and The Homestead at Rochester for their kindness and compassionate care.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
