The memorial celebration for Sharron A. Lohkamp will be Sunday May 7, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Lohkamp, 77, of Rochester, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Living Center in Rochester, MN, of cancer. Sharron was born March 7, 1940 in Quanah, TX, to Winfield and Bessie Lorene (Hopkins) Herring. She graduated from Wellington (TX) High School in 1958, and married Robert T. “Bob” Lohkamp on May 30, 1964. Mr. Lohkamp died on January 17, 1977, in Guatemala. Sharron worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Christie Lohkamp of Rochester MN; her sister, Winene Joy (Fred) Nimmo of Pasco, Washington; and her brother, Dennis Ray Herring (Lois, deceased) of British Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ranelle (Rex) Foster, and her brother Bennoit Duane “B.D.” Herring.
Sharron was most recently a member of Harvest Bible Chapel Rochester. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved and served him all her life. She loved chocolate, watching sports, playing cards, and singing. Along with her husband, Bob, she travelled the world in connection with his job living in many countries including Malta, the Canary Islands, Iran, Guatemala, and Singapore. After the death of her husband, she made her home in Wichita, KS. Later she moved to Washington to help care for her parents, and then to Rochester, MN to be near her daughter.
The family prefers memorials to the Phoenix Christian Assembly Missions Fund or Globe for Christ International
