Betty Ann Palmer passed away Wednesday April 14, 2021 at her home.

Betty was born on October 19th, 1931, to Aletta (Jensen) and Jennings Marquadt in rural Lanesboro. She grew up helping on the farm and attended Gribben country school and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1950. She then worked as a secretary in Chatfield, Marigold Dairies and Pako Photo in Rochester. Betty married Richard (Dick) Palmer on February 15, 1958, and they made their home in Rochester with their three children.

Betty enjoyed much of what the world offered. She loved being outside, watching the birds, gardening, and took pride in her ever-growing family. Betty and Dick could be seen at various sporting events for their grandchildren, bundling up in the ice rink and staying cool at the ballfield. If they were not watching a sporting event, they could be found traveling the back roads of Southeastern Minnesota, taking in the beauty of the world. Betty loved supporting her family in many ways. She had a kind heart and a wicked wit about her. She knew what she wanted to do, and you were not going to change her mind. She took in many cats and dogs over the years, offering the love and support they desired- she certainly had a way with 4-legged family members. She was a fierce writer, a lover of art, and an avid connoisseur of chocolate.

Betty has been reunited with Richard in heaven, her parents, an infant brother, and numerous pets that passed on before her. All welcoming with open arms. She is survived by her children; Judy (Jim) Anderson, Ken (Barb) Palmer, and Steve (Beckie) Palmer, and sister-in-law Pauline (Doug) Hubman of Billings, MT, seven grandchildren and step grandchildren; many step and great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lanesboro.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, consider donating to a charity in town, such as Safe Haven Pet Rescue and Paws and Claws.
