Margaret Jean Thomson, age 99, of Rochester, MN died on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Campus, St. Mary’s Hospital.
Peggy was born on December 11, 1921 in Bradford, PA to William Holleran and Jessica (Schrock) Holleran. She grew up in Bradford where she met and married her beloved husband of 64 years, Albert H. Thomson, on July 1, 1944. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother. In the early 60’s, the family moved to Evansville, IN where Peggy and Al made many lifelong friendships and became valued members of the community. In 2004, Peggy and Al moved to Mayo Clinic’s Charter House Retirement Community in Rochester, MN to be near family. They were so grateful to the Charter House staff and residents for their loving care and support over the years.
Peggy is survived by her children Linda (Ken) Lewis of Greeley, Colorado, John (Annette) Thomson of The Villages, Florida, Margaret (Mike) Kelsey of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Meg, Stephanie (Charley), Michael (Veronica), Megan (Bryan), and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ben, Amelia and Adaline, and Gus, Frankie and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her two sisters.
The Funeral Mass for Peggy will be celebrated on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:30am at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist with dear family friend, Rev. Msgr. Gerald A. Mahon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church and COVID-19 protocols requiring masks and social distancing will be followed. The funeral will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTlCh08Fa1J4JmCGHBWwIhw . Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery of Lafayette, PA at a later date.
Peggy was a woman of great faith and treated everyone she met with great respect, kindness and compassion. She will be dearly missed. Memorials are preferred to the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com
