Their home was often a refuge for teens and kids’ friends who were out of their own homes or just needed to get away. She was also very active in her local church helping with the funeral dinners and frequently baked bread and other goods for friends and neighbors who had experienced loss. She would frequently drive friends/ family to appointments if they were unable to transport themselves.
She took time out of her busy days to visit the sick and home bound with a servant’s heart. 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.” She loved gardening, canning, raising chickens, baking, and her dogs. Her finger rolls were famous to family and friends! One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards. She loved the social aspect of getting together to play cards but she was also very competitive and played to win! She and Glynn enjoyed hosting an annual 4th of July family reunion and neighborhood picnic. Betty and Glynn celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1996.
Following the death of her husband in 1997, Betty enjoyed the companionship of a special friend, Kenny Benedict until his passing in 2013.
